Finance Manager

About Us

Powercargo is a global logistics services provider, specialising in supporting businesses with efficient supply chain management. Our core services include sea, air, road, and rail freight management, warehousing logistics, customs brokerage, and e-commerce logistics. As a fast-growing company, we are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our team and oversee financial operations to ensure smooth and efficient financial processes.

The role is fully remote, home-based, with all necessary office equipment provided by the company.

Note: We will only consider candidates with appropriate experience in the logistics/freight forwarding industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the company’s financial operations, including A/R, A/P, and payroll functions.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting and financial controls.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in a timely manner.
  • Develop budgets and financial forecasts, with ongoing monitoring and variance analysis.
  • Lead the preparation for audits, liaising with external auditors as needed.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of bank transactions and monitor incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with operational objectives.
  • Support strategic decision-making with financial insights and reporting.
  • Manage the financial system in CargoWise One and ensure effective use across the team.
  • Proactively improve financial processes and implement best practices.
  • Monitor shared inboxes for financial queries and assist in responding as needed.
  • Provide leadership and support to the finance team in day-to-day operations and ad-hoc tasks.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager within the logistics/freight forwarding industry.
  • Essential: Proficiency with CargoWise One software.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting software such as Quickbooks, Xero, or Sage.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work setting.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Benefits and Details

  • Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 p/a
  • Remote working, home-based.
  • Working hours: Mon-Fri, 08:00-17:00
  • 25 days holiday plus English bank holidays

Accounts Administrator

Our fast-growing company is currently seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Administrator to join our team.

The role is remote, home-based, with all office equipment provided by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raising daily sales invoices with accuracy.
  • Proactively managing Accounts Receivable (A/R) tasks, including credit control and managing aged debtors.
  • Assisting with the collection of outstanding invoices and improving A/R processes.
  • Handling general account queries and dealing with customer enquiries.
  • Accurate data entry to ensure correct record-keeping.
  • Reconciling bank transactions and monitoring incoming payments.
  • Reconciling customer invoices to shipments.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the company’s A/R systems.
  • Liaising with the team to ensure timely invoicing and smooth-running accounts.
  • Supporting the team with improving A/R processes and procedures.
  • Monitoring shared inboxes for customer communication.
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks to support the team as needed.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Must be able to use own initiative.
  • High attention to detail, especially in A/R.
  • Previous experience working in Accounts Receivable (A/R) is required.
  • Essential: Proven experience with CargoWise One software.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Quickbooks, Xero, or Sage.
  • Ability to learn quickly and have a can-do attitude.
  • Experience within the Transport/Logistics industry is desired.

  • Set and exceed ambitious sales targets.
  • Cultivate a strong network of current and prospective customers.
  • Develop and present competitive pricing solutions for multimodal logistics services.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' proven experience in driving sales within the Freight Forwarding industry.
  • A solid track record of successful Business Development.
  • A strong drive to pursue new sales opportunities.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be IT literate.
  • Outstanding communication and telephone skills, accompanied by robust administrative and customer service abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of International Trade routes.
  • An ability to excel under pressure while independently driving initiatives.
  • Experience in meeting and surpassing targets and KPIs.
